Terms of Use
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These terms are between you and Open Golf Labs LLC ("we", "us"), of Denver, Colorado, and cover your use of the OpenStimp app and this website. By using the app you agree to them. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ, these terms add to it.
Measurements are estimates
OpenStimp estimates green speed from video of a rolling ball. Its readings depend on your phone, the light, the ball and how the measurement was taken, and can be wrong. They aren't an official measurement and shouldn't be relied on where an official measurement is required. OpenStimp isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or calibrated against the USGA or any other golf body.
The Rules of Golf and the course
Rolling a ball to test a green during a round is a penalty under the Rules of Golf, and in stroke play so is testing the course before your round on the day of a competition. Measure on the practice green, or outside a competition round. Follow the course's rules and staff, and don't measure where you'd damage a green or get in other players' way.
Purchases
The app includes three free measurements. Unlimited measurements is a one-time purchase made through the App Store or Google Play, under that store's terms, including its refund policy. It isn't a subscription. A measurement counts against the free ones only when it completes.
Shared readings
If you leave sharing on, you give us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, publish and license the anonymous readings the app sends, as described in the privacy policy.
Fair use
Don't send fake readings, interfere with our servers, or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it.
Course data
Course names and outlines come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License . They may be incomplete or out of date.
No warranty
The app and this website are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, except where the law of the country you live in gives you rights that can't be waived.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
