Privacy Policy

• Camera. The app uses the camera only while you measure. The video is processed on your phone as it is filmed and is never saved or sent anywhere.
• Location. When you measure, the app reads your phone's location to work out which golf course you're on, using course outlines built into the app. Your coordinates are kept with the reading on your phone and are never sent to us or anyone else.
• Your readings. Speeds, slopes, times, course names and any tags or names you add are stored on your phone. Readings you mark private never leave it.
• Free-measurement count. The app keeps a count of the free measurements you've used. On iPhone it's stored in the Keychain, and on Android in the app's settings, which Android backup can restore. It's only a number, but it does stay after you delete the app.

Unless you turn off Share readings anonymously in Settings, the app sends each completed reading taken on a golf course to our server, to build a public record of green speeds by course and time of day. A shared reading contains only:

• the course's OpenStreetMap id and name,
• the green speed and slope,
• the hour it was taken (not the exact time),
• the app version, and
• a random id made up for that one reading, so it isn't counted twice.

It contains no location coordinates, no device id, no account, and none of your tags or names. Readings that aren't on a course, and readings you mark private, are never sent. Our server doesn't store your IP address; it holds it in memory for a short time only to limit abuse. Because a shared reading can't be linked to you, we can't find or delete it later, and we may publish or license green-speed figures built from shared readings.

Payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never see your card or your store account details. We use RevenueCat to check whether Unlimited has been bought. RevenueCat receives an anonymous id the app makes up and the store's purchase record, and nothing else from us. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

openstimp.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

OpenStimp isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

• Turn off Share readings anonymously in Settings at any time.
• Mark a reading private to keep it on your phone.
• Deny location access. Readings are then saved without a course and aren't shared.
• Delete the app to delete your readings from your phone.

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. If we ever start collecting something new, we'll ask in the app first.
